3. 42 CFR Part 2 — Substance Use Disorder Records
In addition to HIPAA, TQL Rehab complies with 42 CFR Part 2, the federal regulation governing the confidentiality of substance use disorder (SUD) treatment records. This regulation provides additional protections beyond HIPAA for individuals receiving treatment for substance use disorder at our facility.
Under 42 CFR Part 2:
- Your substance use disorder treatment records cannot be disclosed without your specific written consent, except in limited circumstances defined by federal law
- Information about your participation in treatment at our campus cannot be shared with employers, law enforcement, or other parties without your authorization
- Any information disclosed with your consent must include a prohibition on re-disclosure by the recipient

A written consent form under 42 CFR Part 2 must include the specific name or general designation of the program making the disclosure, the name of the individual or organization receiving the disclosure, the purpose of the disclosure, how much and what kind of information will be disclosed, your signature and date, a statement that the consent is subject to revocation at any time, and the date or condition upon which the consent expires.
